Coach Sergii’s career in épée fencing began when he participated in the modern pentathlon (an Olympic multisport that consists of five events including one-touch épée fencing) in 1994. Since then, he has competed at both national and international levels, proudly representing his home country of Ukraine.

After relocating to the U.S. in 2008, Coach Sergii began teaching fencing in San Diego. In 2021, having helped launch several local fencing clubs, he decided to start his own. Coach Sergii feels incredibly rewarded witnessing the growth of his students. His goal is to make the fencing experience fun while teaching useful skills like focus and confidence that extend beyond the piste.

A French Bulldog with a black and white coat and a colorful leash sitting outside on a sidewalk, with a digitally illustrated, muscular cartoon dog with a fierce expression on the right side. The cartoon dog has a muscular build, wearing a letter 'F' on its chest, and has a hyena or bulldog face with pointy ears.

Stella the French Bulldog is the official mascot of Forté Fencing Club, because when you’re born naturally wearing a black fencing mask and a white fencing jacket, destiny has already signed you up for the strip. Perfectly dressed for competition and utterly fearless, Stella embodies the true spirit of fencing: precision, confidence, and very fast footwork. She may not lunge on command, but introduce a piece of bacon and she’ll be fiercely determined to win any bout.
